There's a way to actually level up your self care game without resorting to full blown hibernation. And today we're talking about the power of your tribethe people you let into your inner circle Ever felt like your energy was just draining after hanging with certain people? Like they were sucking all the good vibes out of you, leaving you feeling kinda blah? You know that feeling when your phone vibrates and you see their name pop up and you're already bracing yourself for a potential headache? Yeah, we've all been there. Let's be real. The company you keep can seriously impact your mental well being. Think about it. We spend so much time with these people, absorbing their energy, ideas and perspectives. So why not choose to surround yourself with folks who lift you up, inspire you and make you feel like your absolute best self? Here are some hard truths about building a positive tribe that actually works for Gen Z in this crazy one. Recognize the Energy Vampires. Okay, let's be brutally honest. Not everyone is here to support your growth. You know, some people are just walking energy vampires, constantly complaining, gossiping or dragging others down. It's easy to fall into that negativity trap, especially when it feels comfortable or relatable. But trust me, spending too much time with these folks can leave you feeling depleted and demotivated. They'll like the reality TV show you keep watching even though it makes you feel bad, addictive, but ultimately harmful. Recognize those energy vampires and set some boundaries because your mental health is worth more than their drama. 2. Seek out the Hype squad. You know, that squad who gets you, who celebrates your wins, offers support during tough times and just generally radiates good vibes. Find those people, hold onto them tight and nurture those relationships like they're precious succulents. Because let's face it, self care is a vibe. These are the folks who'll challenge you to be your best self, offer honest feedback without sugarcoating, and have your back no matter what. They're your hype squad, your cheerleaders and your partners in crime. Find them and never let them go. 3. Quality over quantity. Look, I get it. Building a massive social circle sounds cool. On paper. But remember, quality trumps quantity every single time. It's better to have a few truly genuine connections than a bunch of superficial acquaintances who just add noise to your life. Focus on deepening the relationships with people who genuinely care about you and who make you feel good about yourself. Because, let's be real, deep connections are what actually matter in the long run. 4. Join your tribe. Find your niche. You know that thing you're passionate about. Whether it's gaming, activism, crafting, or just obsessing over the latest K pop group, there's a community out there for you. Find those people who share your interests and passions. Joining clubs, online groups, or attending events related to your hobbies is a great way to meet like minded individuals and build connections based on shared values. It's like finding your own little squad of fellow weirdos, except instead of being judged, you're celebrated for being uniquely awesome. 5. Be the change you want to see. You hit up your squad, invite them along and suddenly you're all volunteering together, giving back to the community and feeling amazing about it. See, that's the power of a positive tribe. They lift you up, motivate you and help you become the best version of yourself. So ditch those energy vampires, surround yourself with people who hype you up and remember you are worthy of love, support and genuine connection.
