[00:00:00] Speaker A: Yo, what's good fam? Riley Hart here, back with another dose of self care Rx. Because let's face it, Gen Z needs all the help we can get.
Between endless scrolling, crushing student debt and trying to figure out our purpose while simultaneously manifesting our dreams, Self care isn't just a buzzword, it's a survival guide.
Today we're talking about something that trips everyone embracing imperfection.
Like seriously, chill with the pressure to be in style perfect 24 7.
Because newsflash, nobody's ever felt like you're constantly comparing yourself to these filtered curated lives online.
You know that feeling when your feed looks like a million dollar photoshoot in your reality feels more like a dumpster fire after pizza night?
Yeah, me too. That's why we gotta ditch the perfect life illusion and get real about what actually matters.
First off, stop chasing unrealistic expectations.
Lets be honest, those Glow up videos are misleading af.
They want you to believe that one product or a magical routine can transform you overnight. Spoiler alert. It doesn't work like that.
Your worth isn't measured by your follower count, the number of likes on your selfies, or even how many times you hit refresh on Instagram.
Real talk True beauty comes from embracing who you are, flaws and all.
Think about that. Those little imperfections are what make you unique, interesting and relatable.
Next up, remember that it's okay to have off days.
Like seriously, everyone has them. We're not robots programmed for peak performance 24. 7.
Sometimes you just need a day or a week to binge, watch your favorite show in sweatpants, eat all the ice cream, and maybe even shed a few tears while listening to sad music.
It's cold self care people.
And trust me, it's way more productive than trying to force yourself to be on all the time.
Speaking of self care, learn to say no without feeling guilty. You are not obligated to please everyone or take on every task that comes your way.
Remember, your time and energy are precious resources, so invest them wisely.
It's totally fine to prioritize your own well being, even if it means declining a party invitation or turning down that extra project at work.
And hey, if someone gives you side eye for setting boundaries, just remember they're the ones who need to chill out.
Listen, we live in a world obsessed with productivity and hustle culture.
It's like everyone expects you to be constantly grinding, chasing success and achieving your dreams at lightning speed. But here's a truth bomb.
It's okay to slow down and enjoy the journey. You don't have to have it all figured out by 25 or even 30.
Embrace the unknown. Be kind to yourself and remember that life is about experiencing, learning and growing, not just achieving some arbitrary checklist of milestones. Okay, so imagine this.
You're scrolling through social media, seeing everyone else's seemingly perfect lives, feeling like your own reality doesn't measure up.
You're stressing about deadlines, relationships and the future, feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Sound familiar?
That's where embracing imperfection comes in.
Instead of comparing yourself to those curated feeds, take a step back and focus on what truly your well being, your happiness, and your own unique journey.
Remember that it's okay to have bad days, to make mistakes, and to ask for help when you need it.
So what can you actually do about this?
Start by ditching the pressure to be perfect. Embrace your flaws, celebrate your uniqueness, and remember that real life isn't a filter.
Practice self compassion. Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would offer a good friend.
Learn to say no when you need to, prioritize your well being and take breaks when you feel overwhelmed.
Most importantly, remember that you are worthy of love, acceptance and happiness just as you are now. Go out there and rock your imperfections.
The world needs your authentic self.
